Mandatory practice : begins Monday August 3, 2020. Attendance will be taken and athletes who miss practice unexcused will not be allowed to participate in the meets.
If an athlete can not attend the physical team practice, they should contact Coach Weigand and make plans to complete the workout on their own and post the activity on strava in order to earn practice attendance.
The practice schedule for the first two weeks will be as follows:
Monday and Wednesday – distance run at Riverside Park. Meet time – 6:30 pm. Completion, approximately 8:00 pm
Tuesday/Thursday – speed workout at Centennial. Start time – 7:00 am. Approximately time of completion – 8:00 am.
Friday – time trials at Centennial. Girls meet at 4 pm, boys at 4:30. The time to complete the event is approximately 1 hour.
NOTE: all athletes must have their dragonflymax account up to date for the 2020 season. Please check your account and complete all the forms for the current season and contact Coach Weigand with any questions or concerns.
The meet schedule is very tentative right now based on the current coronavirus situation. The fist meet is scheduled for August 22 – the early bird invitational at McIntosh Nature Preserve in Douglas County. Fulton county has mandated that there will be no JV competitions until September, so this race will be varsity only (8 runners per gender). Those spots will be awarded based on the results/rankings after the time trials. Details will be forthcoming.
The meet originally scheduled for August 29th (Battle of Atlanta) was canceled and we were not entered in a meet for Labor day weekend, so the second meet will be Covered Bridge and Carrollton (split squad) on September 12. I will update the rest of the schedule as details become more firm.
