Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · XC camp information


12:00 pm on Monday July 15 – Meet at Centennial in the Stadium parking lot to pack the bus.  Departure time- approximately 1 pm.  Arrive at Tallulah Falls at approximately 3 pm.

We will check into the cabins and then dress for our first run, followed by dinner after returning to the campsite.  The cabins are located at River Falls at the Gorge – 32 Resort Dr, Lakemont, GA 30552.

Daily Schedule – We will run distance every morning, with speedwork on the track in the evenings.

Friday July 19 – After a morning distance run we will pack up camp, load the bus, and return to Centennial at approximately 12:00.

Packing List

Each athlete should bring enough running outfits to complete 8 runs.  Bring two pairs of running shoes, in case one pair gets muddy or wet.  Bathing suit.  2-3 towels.  A plastic bag to pack up wet/muddy items.  Snack food.  Sleeping bags are helpful if you chose to not share a bed with a teammate (or even if you do).

Meals/Food

Lunch and dinner meals are included with the cost of the camp.  The dinners will be Burgers/dogs Monday , pasta Tuesday, and pizza Wednesday, along with various side items (mac-n-cheese, salads, chips, etc…) Thursday night dinner is at the drive in movie, where each athlete will be provided a BBQ meal before the movie.  Lunches will be a sandwich bar, with various lunch meats, cheeses, as well as peanut butter and jelly.  There will be two coolers with ice water and gatorade provided at all times.  Athletes are required to bring anything  that they would like to eat for breakfast.  Each cabin has a kitchen with full sized refrigerator and a microwave.   Anyone with special dietary requirements should contact Coach Weigand before leaving so that possible accommodations can be arranged.

Meal Prep

All meals are prepped before departing.  Seniors attending camp are required to meet at Coach Weigand’s house on Sunday July 14 in order to help prepare the food.  We will meet at 1 pm, and the time required will be 2-3 hours.  Address is 4027 Ophie Drive Marietta GA 30066.  Carpooling is highly suggested.  If you are senior and  you cannot attend you should contact Coach Weigand in advance.

Physicals

If you did not get a physical through the school when the school-wide physicals were given in the spring, you MUST provide a copy of your new physical for use during the 2019-2020 school year.  Physicals from last school year are no longer valid.  Please bring a copy with you the day we depart for camp.  If you have not already had a new physical, and you cannot get an appointment with your doctor, I would recommend visiting a local clinic or urgent care, where physicals can be obtained on short notice, and usually very affordably.  The walk-in care clinic across from Holcomb Bridge MS is a good choice and is very affordable.

Cost:

the final cost per athlete will not be determined until after camp is complete due to unknown variables such as food costs, gasoline, and the actual number of athletes attending.  I will share the total the week after camp is complete and each athlete will be asked to pay that amount, minus any deposit they paid in the spring.
