Centennial Junior Cathryn Gray has had an impressive athletic career. She has been named a Georgia Positive Athlete twice, earning a scholarship from Positive Athlete Georgia and Northside Hospital last year; she is the only female from Georgia to be a USPTF All American, she competed with Team USA in Spain at the CP World Games, earning a bronze medal; she was one of six athletes nationally to earn a Travel and Training Grant from the Women’s Sports Foundation to train for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, World Championships and more. Now Cathryn can add another accolade to her resume: Georgia State Champion.
Cathryn represented Centennial at the GHSA State Track & Field meet in Carrollton last Thursday and Saturday. She competed in discus, shot put, and the 100 meter dash, winning Gold and a State Title in each event in the Adapted Girls division. Her individual effort earned her the high point athlete of the year award and earned Centennial the inaugural Adapted Division State Championship! This is the 2nd state title for Centennial this year and the first time in school history that Centennial has earned two State Titles in a single year. We are so proud of everything Cathryn has accomplished this year and in her career and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
