Boys Varsity Football · Knights Begin Playoffs Against Allatoona

The 2018 football season has proven to be a season full of tests for the Centennial Knights. These tests have led to both adversity and successes. The team opened the 2018 season by challenging themselves with two games outside of the region play against Northside-Warner Robins and Roswell High School. While these games set them up for success in region play throughout the season, they lost one of their biggest playmakers at WR in Julian Nixon. The team responded and filled his absence at WR with the play of Drake Mason, Richard Shaw, and Cal Dickie out of the backfield. Max Brosmer has put together an impressive senior campaign as he has led the team and every other QB in the entire state in passing yards with 3174 yds. The defense has also remained stout in an age of up-tempo and face paced offenses. Sylvester Mathis, Jack Barton, and Dexler Benjamin have led the front seven while Kevon Angry and Dee Chambers have made plays all season in the secondary.

This Friday night the Knights hard work and 7-1 region record has led them back to the playoffs where they hold the number two seed in the region and face Allatoona HS. The Knights came from behind last Friday to beat Northview and solidify their place at the top of the region behind Johns Creek. The unfortunate news heading into tonight’s game is that they appear to be without the team leader and senior QB, Max Brosmer who injured his knee in the second half against Northview. Parker Sperier will be counted on as the “next man up” as they look to continue the pace of their high powered offense. When asked about the season and opening round playoff game, sophomore Jordan Barbas said: “we are confident heading into the game, we just need our defense to help us out by making some big stops and we should win.”

The weather forecast appears to be clearing just before game time tonight so be sure to come out and support the Knights this evening as they take on Allatoona HS. Game time is 7:30 PM at the Fortress for the first round of the playoffs. Go Knights!
