The Girls team holds a slim lead after Day 1 of the Region Meet and both the Boys and Girls teams are in excellent position going into Thursday’s finals. With 18 PRs, the Knights qualified many athletes for finals and will contest every event on Thursday except for the boys’ 400m and the girls’ 3200m.
The girls were lead Tuesday by Olivia Malone and Abigail Chanase and their #1 / #2 finish in the Triple Jump. Both qualified for the Sectional Meet while Region Champion Olivia Malone’s 37-07 jump broke her own TJ school record. Adding points to the girls score were Leigh Ann Collier with a 5th place in the High Jump and Katie Meyer’s 6th place in the 1600m.
On the boys side, Senior Jimmie Walton was Region Runner-Up and punched his ticket to the Sectional Meet in the Shot Put. Paris Williams, who also qualified for Thursday’s finals in both hurdle events, also contributed points for the boys team score with a 7th place finish in the Long Jump.
The Region Meet concludes Thursday with all events being finals. It is lining up to be an exciting day as the Boys look to defend their Region title and the Girls are very much in the hunt for their 1st ever Region Championship!
