Centennial would like to welcome our new Head Baseball and Softball Coach, Matt McCarthy.

mccarthy

Coach McCarthy was born and raised in Alpharetta, GA. He attended Chattahoochee High School, lettering in baseball all four years. He was the starting shortstop on the 2005 State Championship team. After high school, he attended Jefferson State Community College on a baseball scholarship. He finished his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, majoring in Health and Physical Education. In 2014, he completed my Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University.

Coach McCarthy has been a Varsity Assistant baseball coach for the last 6 years, most recently his last two seasons have been spent at Milton High School as the varsity infield coach. He has also been a head coach for the last 6 years in the DeMarini/Rawlings Southeast travel ball organization, including last summer where my 17U team finished with a final national ranking of #12 by Baseball America.

Coach McCarthy has also been an Assistant Varsity Softball Coach at Milton High School and will also be taking over as the new Head Coach for Girls Fast-pitch Softball.

Coach McCarthy is very excited about the chance to lead the Centennial Baseball and Softball programs and we expect a lot of success in the future. GO KNIGHTS!
